1. Cardinal, Ordinal, and Nominal Numbers

A cardinal number tells "how many." Cardinal numbers are also known as "counting numbers," because they show quantity.

Here are some examples using cardinal numbers:

  • 8 puppies
  • 14 friends

kidsordinal

Ordinal numbers tell the order of things in a set—first, second, third, etc. Ordinal numbers do not show quantity. They only show rank or position.

Here are some examples using ordinal numbers:

  • 3rd fastest
  • 6th in line

Negativas

to sleep

I

don't sleep

You

don't sleep

He/She/It

doesn't sleep

We

don't sleep

They

don't sleep

Ejemplos:

I don't like broccoli = No me gusta el brócoli. He doesn't sing in the shower = Él no canta en la ducha.

Interrogativas

Interrogativas "afirmativas"

Se hacen oraciones con la forma de auxiliar (do/does) + sujeto + verbo + complemento:
Ejemplos:
P: Do you run in the park every day? (¿Corres en el parque todos los días?)
R: Yes, I do.
P: Does she want to buy a car? (¿Quiere ella comprar un coche?)
R: Yes, she does. (Sí, ella quiere comprar un coche.)

Interrogativas "negativas"

Ejemplos:
P: Don't you like this song? (¿No te gusta esta canción?)
R: Yes, I do/No, I don't.
P: Doesn't he like it? (¿No le gusta?)
R: Yes, he does/No, he doesn't.

La tercera persona singular en inglés tiene tres pronombres: he, she, it.

  1. En la tercera persona del singular el verbo siempre termina en ‘s’, : He eats, she comes.
Does she eat a lot? No, she does not eat a lot.
  3. Los verbos que terminan en ‘y’ cambian la ‘y’ por ‘ies’ : He lies, she cries, excepto cuando hay una vocal antes de la ‘y’: she prays, he plays.
